Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm the following, and submissions not meeting these requirements may be returned:

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration elsewhere (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor)
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, following the JMMC Template
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided
  • Author names are listed and ordered carefully on the first page (names cannot be changed after acceptance)
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements below

Language
Manuscripts should be written in English. Either American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of both.

Submission
Manuscripts are submitted electronically through JMMC's Open Journal System, using the Register tab to create an author account. All correspondence, including editorial decisions and revision requests, is sent through the online system.

Before submitting, corresponding authors should review JMMC's Publication Ethics, Open Access & Copyright, and Plagiarism policies.

Manuscript Format
Articles should follow the JMMC Template. The abstract should be 200–250 words with 4–6 keywords. References should be cited in text by superscript number, listed at the end in order of appearance, following Vancouver style. See Preparation of Manuscript for full formatting specifications by article type.

File Type
Manuscripts should be submitted as a single Microsoft Word or PDF file including all content. Authors are solely responsible for obtaining permission to reprint any previously published or copyrighted material.

After Acceptance
Authors are notified of the editorial decision by email. On acceptance, authors sign the Undertaking Form. The accepted manuscript is sent to the corresponding author for proofreading before publication; no further edits are possible once an article is published.

Submission Checklist
Before sending a manuscript for review, confirm:

  • A corresponding author is designated, with email and full postal address
  • Full author list with affiliations is included
  • Keywords are included
  • All figures (with captions) and tables (with titles, descriptions, footnotes) are included, and all in-text citations to them match the files provided
  • Figures and tables are placed consistently (either within the text at the relevant point, or together at the end) not a mixture of both
  • Supplemental files are included where applicable

Further Considerations

  • The manuscript has been spell-checked and grammar-checked
  • All references in the reference list are cited in the text, and vice versa
  • Permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material used, including from the internet
  • A conflict of interest statement is included, even where there is nothing to declare: published at the end of the article, using the sentence "The authors declare no conflict of interest" where applicable
  • Full forms of all abbreviations are presented in the manuscript
  • JMMC's editorial policies have been reviewed

Acknowledgement of Sources
Authors should properly acknowledge the work of others and cite publications influential in shaping the reported work. Information obtained privately, through conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without the source's explicit written permission. Likewise, information obtained through confidential services such as refereeing manuscripts or grant applications must not be used without the explicit written permission of the relevant author(s).

During Peer Review
Authors are expected to participate fully in the peer review process, responding promptly to editors' requests for raw data, clarifications, or proof of ethics approval, consent, or copyright permissions. Where a decision of "revisions necessary" is given, authors should respond to reviewer comments systematically, point by point, and resubmit by the given deadline.
